Spring is Coming!
4/15/2026

Spring is late this year. Or... maybe it was just early last year. My tulips were up an inch and a half in the kitchen window bed by mid-March in 2025, and today only the tips are poking up. That’s an entire month later!
I love spring—watching as things slowly come back to life. Buds on trees start to swell, bulbs begin poking up through the soil, the air starts to warm, and I can shed a layer or two when Milo and I head out on our morning walks.
Even better, just after tidying up the first few flower beds, it started to rain. Not the light, drizzly stuff we usually get, but a nice steady rain on and off all day.
Is there anything nicer than standing at the window in a cozy kitchen, hands wrapped around a hot mug of tea, watching as the world is washed clean again?

We had record amounts of snow this year, which made it impossible to get into the garden and take down the Christmas decorations. The snow has finally melted, but now the ground is too wet to walk on. This may be the first time I’ve had crocuses blooming alongside Christmas decor! Just looking at the photo has me cringing a bit... oh dear...
Never mind. Everything will get done eventually.
In the meantime, I can enjoy beautiful sights like this.
